Operation New Hope

Operation New Hope is a partnership between the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and the Humane Society for Greater Savannah. The goal of Operation New Hope is to give dogs who need a bit of polishing and socialization a chance to be more successful in a new home and to reduce recidivism rates by giving inmates the opportunity to acquire new transferable skills and experience accountability.

Ninety-five percent of the dogs that complete the Operation New Hope program have found new loving homes.  And, the recidivism rate among ONH inmate participants is more than 75% lower than that of the general jail population.

Today's #ShelterSeniorSpotlight is on Vance! He is the perfect size for any home or apartment and is a low-maintenance dog who just goes with the flow. He has lived with young children and another dog, so he can adapt to almost any living situation. He would love a companion to give him affection so he is not lonely. Don't forget about his best feature...his ears, of course!

According to Cobalt, puppuccinos are lip-smacking good! Lucky for her, she was treated to an out-of-shelter outing with an awesome #volunteer and was a total lady about delicately eating her tasty treat! She loves to be pet and loved on, and as a graduate of #operationnewhope she is well trained too! To become a volunteer and help us spoil more dogs like Cobalt, click here: www.humanesocietysav.org/volunteer/
