Job Title:  Thrift Shop Receiving Staff
Department:  Thrift Shop
Pay Grade:  $11/hour
Reports To:  Thrift Shop Manager

 SUMMARY:  Responsible for processing and sorting of donations.  Organization, pricing and display of items designated for retail areas on the ground level.  Assists with the overall retail and Thrift Shop operations.  Provide quality customer service to customers, vendors and volunteers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Sorts and prices materials per Thrift Shop standards.
  2. Organizes and maintains the donation area and display sheds.
  3. Ensures quality of inventory by adhering to Thrift Shop standards when processing intake items.
  4. Opens, closes and secures the Thrift Shop grounds and buildings per the scheduled operating hours.
  5. Unloads donated material from donor’s vehicles.
  6. May travel to donor’ homes to pick up goods and large pieces of furniture.
  7. Assists customers who are purchasing goods from the first floor sales areas.
  8. Must maintain a professional appearance at all times in accordance with HSGS’s dress code policies.
  9. Willingly and cooperatively performs other duties as assigned by proper authority, that may not be in specific job description.

  5. The majority of the work shifts will be spent outdoors and will require walking, standing, bending and lifting.

WORK HOURS:     varies; generally full time and likely to include Saturday.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Retail experience with strong customer service skills.

Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.

 LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

 Must possess a valid and unrestricted driver’s license.

Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds to a level of at least 4 feet high.
